Summer Experience
Intern for Judge Nicole Perdue
133rd Civil Court
District Courts of Harris County
I had the distinct honor and privilege of interning with Judge Perdue and her exceptional team at the 133rd Civil Court during the summer of 2025. Sitting beside the Judge during court proceedings was a surreal and inspiring experience. Throughout my time there, I honed my legal research skills using WestLaw, observed a wide range of civil and criminal cases, and had the opportunity to meet Harris County District Attorney Mr. Sean Teare. Most importantly, I witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by everyday people and came to truly understand the profound meaning of "justice seasoned with mercy." I’m deeply grateful to the entire 133rd Civil Court for such a transformative experience.

Participant
5th Annual Screaming Chicken Mock Trial Tournament
Hosted by District Courts of Harris County
During my internship with Judge Perdue, I had the unique opportunity to compete in the Fifth Annual Screaming Chicken Mock Trial Tournament as the only high school student among graduate-level law participants. Serving as lead counsel for the plaintiff, I took on key responsibilities including delivering the opening statement, preparing witnesses, and conducting cross-examinations. While these tasks were both challenging and rewarding, the most meaningful aspect of the experience was the incredible teamwork I shared with my three teammates. Together, we placed fourth out of nine teams—a result that reflected our dedication, collaboration, and growth throughout the competition.
